13U AA

Chris Fuoco

13U AA Division Coordinator

About this division

13U AA is the more competitive option for players who are 11-13 (as of Dec. 31st of the current year).

VCB will have one or two 13U AA teams in 2019.  A final decision on whether we will have one team or two will be made by the end of February 2019.  It will depend on the availability of coaches and the number of players who try out for it, and the calibre of their skill.  Players not selected to a AA travel team will be drafted onto a 13U A team for the spring season.  Note that BC Minor Baseball rules require its member associations to draft balanced AA teams if we have more than one of them - there will not be an "A" team and a "B" team.

There will be 12-14 players selected on each team.

At the 13U level, there are separate spring and summer seasons.  That means that for the summer season, associations can change the makeup of the team or teams.

Players selected to a AA team are charged a travel team fee of $1175.

The 13U AA/AAA cost is based on a full Spring through Summer season (March-August) including an anticipated 70 games.  The travel team fee will cover all equipment, uniforms, tournament entry fees, and umpire fees.   We will be entering five tournaments to participate in as part of the 70 games in order to prepare adequately for the provincial championships and beyond.  Please contact the 13U Division Coordinator Chris Fuoco  if you have any questions regarding the program, costs, or expectations.  Chris can be contacted through the link at the top of this page.

Spring season

BC Minor Baseball does not administer a league schedule for the spring season.  The general intent is that the spring season should be more about development than competition.  There are also fair play rules in effect so every player should receive roughly equal playing time.  You should expect to have about two games and two practices each week.

Vancouver Community Baseball team(s) will interlock with other nearby associations' 13U AA teams.  In 2018, we interlocked with Burnaby, Vancouver Minor, Coquitlam/Moody and the North Shore and played a total of 20 games.  We also entered 3 tournaments.  The spring season will end around the 2nd weekend in June.

Summer season

For the summer season, the team (or teams) may go up to AAA or stay AA.  If we have two spring league teams, it's very likely that the strongest players will be asked to join a team that plays at the AAA level while the others will be given the option of playing at the AA level.  Depending on the number of players, VCB may be required to field a team at the AAA level.  Note that most other associations have one AAA summer team, regardless of whether they had 1, 2, or 3 AA teams in spring league.

BC Minor Baseball administers summer seasons for 13U AA and 13U AAA.  The season will begin on either the last weekend in June or the first weekend in July, with a provincial championship tournament held over the August long weekend.

The summer season is more competitive and less about development, so there are no fair play rules.   AAA also 9-man ball, meaning there are only 9 players in the active lineup at any given time, and only those players are in the batting order.  There is no limit to the substitutions, however (except for the pitcher).

AAA will involve some extra travel, probably to the interior of BC and/or Vancouver Island.

Further details will be available in May  2019.
