Midget AA Division Coordinator

About this division

The 18U Division is for players who are 16, 17, or 18 as of Dec. 31st, 2021.   Players who will be 19 as of Dec. 31st also have the option of registering for 18U AA (house), subject to some restrictions which are detailed in the BC Baseball rule book.  Contact the registrar prior to registering if you fall into this category.

At the 18U level, the base paths are set at 90 feet and the pitching distance is 60½' (i.e. a full-sized baseball diamond).  A regulation game is 7 innings long, but games can be shortened due to weather or light.  Base runners are permitted to lead off, balks are called, and the dropped 3rd strike rule is in effect.

For the last several years the highest level that Vancouver Community Baseball (“VCB”) has offered is an 18U AA “house league” where teams play a schedule of games vs. other VCB 18U AA teams.

VCB is considering adding an 18U AAA team, potentially as early as the 2022 season.  18U AAA baseball would involve:

  • Very high caliber of play and level of competition
  • ~2 practices and ~3-4 games per week
  • League comprises other associations throughout BC.  Substantial travel for away games/tournaments, ~4 times per month on average
  • The teams in BC 18U AAA league currently are: Chilliwack, Cowichan Valley, Kelowna, North Island (Campbell River), North Shore, Prince George, Richmond, Ridge Meadows, South Fraser (Surrey) and Township (Langley) and West Kelowna
  • No minimum play rules per player
  • Requirement that players prioritize baseball over other sports/activities during the season

Further details on a potential VCB 18U AAA program, including costs and coaches, have not been finalized.

We are currently assessing player/family interest level in 18U AAA baseball at VCB.

If your player may be interested in trying out for a VCB 18U AAA team for the 2022 season if such program is offered, please register your interest through the link below.  This will be helpful in our assessment of whether there may be sufficient demand for an 18U AAA program at VCB.

We will provide further updates as and when available.
